Some would say our skills and talents will win through in today’s employment market, however, there can be no disputing that ageism is alive and well. To compete and stay on top of the game, for some, the benefits of appearance medicine can be a real confidence booster and worth the expense.
For others, there are a myriad options with non-invasive skin therapy and treatments. The next level are the less invasive options such as botox, fillers and needling, which are being refined and improved all the time.

Leading change in the beauty industry
The older woman is changing the beauty industry. Cosmetics and makeup are now being produced specifically for our age group. Gone are the days when actress Isabella Rossellini was dropped by Lancome at age 40, reportedly for being too old. Helen Mirren at 69 has joined a list of over-50s shaking up the beauty industry by becoming the newest face of French cosmetics company L'Oreal.
We can only hope more women over a certain age appear in cosmetic campaigns in the future, which would make a whole lot of sense - a recent UN report states that "one in four women is over 50; in five years' time, one in three will be; and in 50 years, a staggering half of all women in the world will be over 50."
It seems only fair then, that this fabulous, and booming, demographic is given the shout out it deserves.
